15 Best Hotels Near Port of Civitavecchia (Rome)

The port of Civitavecchia is the gateway to Italy’s glorious capital city of Rome, located 74 km/46 miles (a 1h drive) northwest of the “Eternal City”. 

Civitavecchia port is one of the largest seaports in the world and a homeport, meaning that the cruises start and end in Civitavecchia.

If you are planning a cruise that starts in Civitavecchia, it’s highly recommended you stay at least a couple of days in Rome, before or after your cruise.

When it comes to accommodation, the best option would be to look at three locations, depending on your preferences and budget:

• The city of Civitavecchia – The majority of hotels are located in the city center, within a short walk from the train station and a 5-minute drive from the port. These hotels are more affordable than in Rome.
• Hotels near “Roma Termini” station in Rome. Roma Termini is Rome’s central station, from where trains to Civitavecchia depart every 30 minutes. • Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci International Airport) – The area around the airport offers a selection of great hotels and many of them provide a shuttle transfer to the port. The airport is located a 40-minute drive from Rome and a 1-hour drive from Civitavecchia port.
